Supporting Little Jaydin’s Fight Against Retinoblastoma

Jaydin le Roux is a young child who is bravely facing retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood eye cancer. He has already endured several cycles of chemotherapy, but his battle is far from over. He requires continuous specialist care, regular hospital monitoring, and a steady supply of prescribed medications to support his ongoing treatment and recovery at home.

The financial strain on his family has now reached a critical point. To ensure Jaydin is never left without immediate care, his father has had to step away from his sea-faring career, as working aboard ships would mean being away for extended periods when urgent medical emergencies could arise. At the same time, frequent travel between Ramsgate and Durban for Jaydin’s hospital visits presents an immense physical and financial obstacle.

Jaydin’s family are doing everything within their power to support him, but their financial resources are completely exhausted. Despite maintaining the medical aid, the exhaustion of available benefits means that simply having an active medical aid does not guarantee that Jaydin’s treatment will be covered when he requires it.

His treatment is ongoing and he continues to require specialist oncology care, chemotherapy, hospital treatment, medical monitoring and prescribed medication. His chemotherapy has been administered in hospital, and medication is provided when he is discharged for him to continue his treatment and recovery at home.

Immediate support is required to ensure his treatment and medical care continue without interruption.
