Mandela day Arms of Mercy Hannah`s Place of Safety

The essence of Mandela Day – take action, inspire change, and make every day a Mandela Day – is more important than ever before.

This year on Mandela Day, AOM have chosen to take action and pay it forward to Hannah`s Place of Safety in Cape Town, as the work that they do is so very important, and very close to my heart. Hannah`s Place of Safety is an NPO that render services to various departments of Social Development for babies 0-1 years old in need of care and protection.

They render a free of charge service to the (Department of Social Development) caring for children in need of (Care and Protection). The duration of each child’s stay can range between 3-6 months, case dependent. Most of their babies are born from drug addicted parents and Alcohol users, and they also care for babies who have been removed from their families due to circumstances. Visit their website at www.hannahsplaceofsafety.org to learn more.

“Together as a nation, we have the obligation to put sunshine into the hearts of our little ones. They are our precious possessions. They deserve what happiness life can offer.” – Nelson Mandela

A baby is an innocent, fragile being that cannot fend for itself and needs much love and care. Let`s honour Madiba`s memory, legacy and love of children by giving back to the community and those who are less fortunate than ourselves. We invite you to take hands with us for Mandela Day and to make a difference in the lives of our children by supporting our fundraiser, or donate R67 (or more) by using the banking details below.

Mandela Day – Children`s Homes Outreach

mandela day

This year on Mandela Day, Arms of Mercy NPC have chosen to take action and pay it forward to Hebron Safe-home in De Aar, the Herberg Kinderhuis in Robertson, and Peace Home in Bloubergstrand, in support of the amazing work they do and positive change they bring about in the children’s lives.

WHY 67 MINUTES

The main theme around Mandela Day is “action against poverty”. We would like to serve the community and especially during these tough times of hardship. Unfortunately 67minutes of our time will be impossible this year due to the pandemic and therefore we are pleading with the community to donate R67.

We are aware that life is tough out there but we still have so much to be thankful for. We are only asking for a R67 donation to ensure that all the precious children are taken care of as all children’s homes are taking severe strain right now. Funds raised will be used for food and clothing.

Let’s open our hearts this year and give back to those who are less fortunate. Together we can change the World!

67 Days of Action for Trauma Survivors with The Go Purple Foundation

#TimeToServe #MandelaDay #ActionAgainstPoverty

18 July is international Mandela Day, in honour of former president, Nelson Mandela`s birthday. The day is inspired by a call to action by Madiba for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

This year, Arms of Mercy is taking on a project partnership with The Go Purple Foundation in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng – in support of the important work that they do in their community, specifically for women and children who have been victims of violence, rape and abuse.

To take action against poverty, we are launching new bracelets in order to raise funds to help grow the Go Purple Foundation Trauma Centre, with the hope of realising it into a Trauma Save Hospital for trauma survivors.

Go Purple Foundation Trauma Centre Objectives

  • To empower and develop our community by knowledge.
  •  To support and mobilize members of our community to speak out against abuse.
  •  To educate the community on abuse and violence (their rights as victims but also there duty as community members to report abuse and violence)
  •  To co-ordinate research programs nationally and internationally.
  • To bring change where there is still discrimination in the SAPS, the Judicial System and all other role players involved in the reporting and handling of cases of abuse, violence and rape.
  •  To discourage child labor and the neglect of children in communities.
  •  To provide support and assistance for families and individuals who is victims of abuse, but also victims of a bad economy (poverty).
  • Seek opportunities to educate and create job opportunities for local members in need.
  •  To provide information through awareness campaigns, seminars and workshops on Abortion; Drug and Substance abuse; Abuse, rape and Domestic Violence and how to report it; Porn and the influence of it on the mind and soul.
  • To collaborate with different departments especially the Welfare, SAPS, Legal resources and other NGO’S.
  •  To establish more similar centre’s in the entire Gauteng Province and South Africa as a whole.

We are also honoring 5 Survivors with our 67 Days of Grace & Gratitude campaign from 18 July – 22 September – they are Ina Bonette, Lindsay Pistorius, Anja Lessing, Mandy van Tonder, and Leilani Kuter. Click here to view their survivor stories and survivor bracelets.

The Go Purple Foundation was founded by Annari du Plessis, also founder of Crossroads Trauma and Community Center that gives assistance to members in the community who are hurt and failed by role players and even churches for years.

18 July is international Mandela Day, in honour of former president, Nelson Mandela`s birthday. The day is inspired by a call to action by Madiba for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.
