NEW Power of Prayer Bracelets for Chante-Amoré Koekemoer – Pierre Robin Syndrome, Heart Defect
On 21 May 2019, Simoné Koekemoer, gave a caesarean birth to Chante-Amoré Koekemoer in Netcare Ferncrest Hospital, Rustenburg. Simoné was still on her father, Stefan Koekemoer`s medical at that point in time, and was fully covered should anything go wrong, but if anything was wrong with the baby, the costs would have to be paid privately.
As fate would have it, there was a problem with the newborn baby girl. Upon examination they found that she was born with a cleft palate, and that she also struggled to breathe. Chante-Amoré was connected to a ventilator immediately and rushed to the NeoNatal ICU for medical attention.
After they managed to stabilize Chante-Amoré, grandpa Stefan, was informed by the ICU staff that he had to deposit Rl50 000.00 in cash for her to be admitted so that she could get the necessary help.
Stefan immediately started making plans and it was clear that taking out a personal loan would be the only way forward. Hours after the loan was approved, the money was paid to the hospital. Doctors worked out that it would be necessary to pay R163 400.00 to keep her in the ICU for 10 days, but on the 27th of May 2019, the hospital notified him that the fees (RI50 000.00) had been exhausted.
Many plans had to be made to cover the bill, and with the help of fundraisers, most of the money has been paid. However, there is still an outstanding amount of R24 000.00 that has to be paid privately. Chante-Amorè has been been on a new medical aid since June 2019 that covers the daily medical expenses.
Chante-Amoré was diagnosed with Pierre Robin Syndrome. She also has a heart defect, and she is currently still in hospital. Together we can change her world, one bracelet at a time.
