Hayley Le Grange was born on the 11th of January 2019. For 2 months she weighed only 2kgs, not picking up weight. She was taken to the local house doctor who then saw that she was born with a cleft palate.
The family heard about a NPO who assisted kids by raising funds for them to get them the help they needed.
Hayley saw her Specialists about 4 times, and she was picking up weight as she needed to weigh 9kg at 9 months before they could operate. Unfortunately the operation was cancelled due to funds not being enough. In January 2020 we heard that all the funds have been collected and she would have seen the Specialist on 26th of February.
However, in February, they learned that the NPO disappeared with all the money, without paying the hospital, and so the operation was cancelled again.
They reached out to the Smile Foundation who referred Hayley to Albert Lutuhuli Hospital in Durban, which is closer to home.
However, funds are needed for transport to and from Durban, accommodation and transportation in Durban to get to the hospital. Hayley will be seeing the Specialist on the 26th of March and thereafter more information will be available as to what and when he will be operating. Hayley will also need speech therapy after the surgery, and have tests done on her ears.
