Arizona Hoy was only 4 years old when she was diagnosed with High-Risk Stage IV Neuroblastoma Cancer. She has a tumor located on her left adrenal gland which has spread (metastasized) from its primary location to multiple lymph nodes, the bone marrow and bones.
This type of cancer only affects around 100 children under five per year in South Africa. High risk patients have a 60% chance of relapse with no known cure for relapse Neuroblastoma.
Despite these statistics, Arizona has begun intensive Chemotherapy at Red Cross War Memorial Hospital in Cape Town, in hopes of seeing a reduction in the size and spread of the tumors.
Mom, Samantha, is at home full time to look after and care for Arizona. Funds are needed for additional supplements, Arizona`s special diet requirements, and monthly expenses that still need to be covered including sibling school fees, therapies, groceries, transport and day-to-day cost of living. For live updates on her progress and journey follow Helping Arizona on Facebook.
Supporting our fundraising initiative is a great way to make a contribution to improve Arizona`s quality of life.
Update February 2020: Arizona rang the bell on the 28th of February – marking the end of her radiation treatment!! They are looking into further treatment options for Arizona abroad, and will keep everyone updated as they will need to do serious fundraising to make it possible. – Helping Arizona
